The Librarian of Burned Books
by Brianna Labuskes
i couldn’t decide between giving a 4 or 5, because while this isn’t my favorite book i’ve ever read (even within ww2 historical fiction) it was all i ever want from good historical fiction - to teach you something new in an entertaining way.
i had never heard of the armed services editions, and using the theme of the power of books alongside the destruction of knowledge in a then top educated country in the world was well done.
i also think she did a great job of teasing romance throughout the book without it dominating the plot - you start to root for althea & hannah, vivian & hale while the plot develops around them.
