Wow. This book was so powerful and so, so desperately sad. Considering it is a children’s book, I found it almost too much at times, but also felt completely hooked and like I needed to get to the end, just to make sure that everything ended up okay (it did!).

I was hoping that the shark would be a more positive force and character in the book, but instead it was almost like a ghost - and not a good one - that created trouble and strife. It haunted dreams and led people to do ridiculous and dangerous things.

The writing was really clever, and it explained big, complicated subjects in ways that children would be able to understand and process, but it was a tough and challenging read at times.

I would recommend it, but not if you’re looking for something lighthearted and happy!
