Sorcery & Cecelia: or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot by Patricia C. Wrede, Caroline Stevermer

5.0

This was utterly charming: A light, fluffy, epistolary Regency romp. The shape of the plot was utterly predictable, the romances perfectly straightforward, but it was just so fun and easy. The thing about an epistolary novel is that you can be sure nothing too immediately dangerous is going to happen, because the narrator must have survived the danger at least long enough to sit down and take up pen and paper.

(I'm sure there are some epistolary novels where everything is grim and getting grimmer, but it happens slowly enough that the narrator has time to write down the decline and destruction of everything. But this was not that kind of book. It was lovely. And there are two sequels that came in the omnibus I bought, so I can have more if this froth whenever I want it.
