I enjoy watching Kat's growth with this story. She had a rough childhood in and out of the foster care system and still dealing with some of it in her final year of school. She doesn't play the victim and give up. She takes what happens to her and makes it to where that is not the only thing that defines who she is. She's determined to get a scholarship to college.

I wish we got more of the story 4 years after Kat and Gavin meet. The synopsis makes it seem like it would be 50/50 high school then 4 years later and it wasn't. I like the back story and seeing how they got to where they are now. But I also want more after the coffee shop.
