Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak

When I was younger I tried to finish every book I started. If only I knew what happened next (pun intended). I ate some bad chicken today. Oh, this is a book review alright, in the same way that this is a book. Perhaps I need more disjoint sentences or over the top characterizations. Very well, this book is Satan. The embodiment of all evil. This review is the arch-angel Gabriel. Naturally I am not being sloppy and obtuse, this is a heart-breaking review describing how I came to terms with this traumatic book.. NOT. These are ridiculous, like the Mule and the Murderer.

The story is utterly, completely pointless. The characters are drab and boring. The writing is not beautiful. It is annoying. Cliffhangers and over-exposition is not a hallmark of good writing. Read The Book Thief instead, at least the story was good.

For really beautiful writing try anything by Ursula LeGuin or China Mieville.
