Alone in the Wild (Rockton/Casey Duncan #5) by Kelley Armstrong

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The 5th book in the Rockton/Casey Duncan series and I was getting really bummed that it was almost done. Two books after this one, and then….what will I do with my life?!

This was a much more emotional book for me to read, as it deals with infertility. We know from previous books, due to an event in Casey’s past, she is unlikely able to have a successful pregnancy. and the way Armstrong approached the topic was respectful and not overly sappy or pitying towards those who cannot have children. She portrayed Casey as accepting and being OK with not having children in her life - open to the possibility of trying but uncertain if she could deal with the emotional and physical trauma of it if things didn’t work out. It wasn’t done in a way where Casey felt less-than because she’s not able to have children…which so many authors seem to do.

The story continues to be enjoyable and I have really enjoyed following along as Rockton and its misfit denizens evolve.
