The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. Le Guin
5.0
why does every classic sci-fi novel make me want to curl up into a ball and cry for a thousand years.
the way the two main characters are written is so distinct that you don't even need character tags to know when the chapters change perspectives. it's like i could hear their voices in my head (i was reading the physical book, not listening to an audiobook) and when starting a chapter i could immediately tell when one stopped speaking and the other started, no labels necessary.
anyways i realized like 1/3 of the way into this book that the omegaverse stole so much of its 'culture' from this novel it's like not even funny.
