I enjoyed this little novella that chronicled to origins of Beauty and Tank’s love story. It was super spicy and the relationship at the center was adorable. That said, I wanted there to be more to Tank’s leaving the Klan. He supposedly had a change of heart in prison after rooming with a latino man. However, there needed to be more showing him grappling with his past and the racist ideology of the Klan. Racism isn’t just a delusion you suddenly snap out of one day just because you met some people of color. I needed to see Tank go through the process of unlearning what the KKK taught him, and this novella did not deliver on that. 

Not a great omen for Tanner’s story….
