If at any point in my life someone told me that I would cry over a book about a talking octopus I would’ve laughed in your face. I was SO wrong, PLEASE READ THIS BOOK ABOUT A TALKING OCTOPUS! The way the story of Marcellus (aforementioned octopus) and the aging Swedish woman who cleans the aquarium, losing the loss of her family, are weaves together is beautiful and heartbreaking and it may make you cry.

Okay to be fair it’s not *really* a talking octopus, like not in a fantastical or supernatural way. He doesn’t actually speak out loud, but we hear his point of view as he tries to comprehend & scoff at human stupidity and it’s everything. I would die for Marcellus 😭

Editing to add: I’ve made a point previously to say how picky I am about audiobooks, so I need to say that this audiobook is spectacular. I split reading this between the physical and the audio and I ALMOST prefer the audio?! Hell has in fact frozen over.
