this book was a wonderful portrait of black womanhood and i really appreciated the different perspectives. i especially enjoyed reading about the experiences of the more elderly women because i feel like those are some voices i haven't had the chance to be exposed to very much before now. i did bring my rating down a bit because the last chapter felt kind of weird an unnecessary to me, but overall - great book
