It took me pretty much a year (10 months) to finish this book. I think that would be due to the pacing of the book, nothing really happens in the first 200 pages, it's just filled with world building, character writing, and information, while I do appreciate all that, taking up 200 pages of a little over 300 page book, is a little ridiculous, it almost feels like this was originally a stand alone, and then the author suddenly decided he wanted to make this a series. Overall I think the last 100 pages actually redeemed this book, and I'll be reading the series to see if it's worth it
