***ARC Review***
This is my honest and voluntary review for the ARC I received.
This book is ridiculous and fabulous and I want all of you to read it. It’s delightfully unhinged and I can’t properly put into words how much I enjoyed it. Suspend your disbelief and just buckle up and enjoy the ride. This book is cheeky, zany, and so over the top. I couldn’t stop smiling.
Scotty and Brody are a mark and a hit man. They shouldn’t fall for one another, but they eventually do, after several questionable comments and actions. Honestly, the things that come out of both of their mouths would be concerning, if it wasn’t so fitting for their dynamic in this story. You definitely want to check the content warnings on this one though. There is internalized homophobia for you, if that’s a triggering. There’s also a sizable amount of dubcon at the beginning.
Brody is questioning things about himself after meeting Scotty. For whatever reason, he can’t seem to pull the trigger. Scotty succumbs to instalust (and love) and it’s totally endearing how open and honest he is. Brody and Fee (and Kincaid) have some things to work through in their relationship. (This story features a married couple with an open relationship (that are close to unraveling their union); cheating is not featured). Brody is slower to admit what’s happening between Scotty and him but when he gives in, sparks fly.
A lot goes on in this book. It’s a wild and crazy ride, but it it’s so captivating and entertaining. Honestly, Scotty and Brody’s relationship is unconventional in terms of their love language, but it works for them. Brody discovers important things about himself in this book. Scotty finally finds unconditional love. The (real) bad guy gets what’s coming to him. The HEA is both violent and heartwarming. That epilogue destroyed me in the best way possible. I devoured it.
Tatum is Scotty’s best friend and so help me I cannot wait to read his book, if Lansdale’s teasing near the end of this book is true and he writes it. 😉 In the meantime, enjoy reading this book. It’s going to stick with you!
