The Mercy of Gods by James S.A. Corey
3.0
3.5 for okay writing??? I think my main problem is I love The Expanse too much. This is not that. This is soooo very much not that. And I thought it might not be, but oh my cats, it just really isn’t comparable at all. I might read the others if I’m very bored and book-hungry, I’m not sure.
There didn’t seem to be a storyline really, but maybe that is coming later. And yes the authors do work well together, and their imaginative world building is still great. It’s just…something was missing. It seemed long for the little it told us. There was nothing really keeping me attached to the characters or their suffering, and at times I kind of wanted to scream, “yes, I get it,” when they were trying to explain about mental health to a non-psychiatry doctorate audience several times over. I think it’s just me.
