Oh my god, I thought this would never end. Overall, I liked this last book. I was especially connected with the Blood Shrike’s storyline,
and was pretty devastated when Harper died. I enjoyed their story together. But I do like how Helene was able to discover the strength of her heart and still love and find joy at the end. I think that was special.

I think part of my detachment with this series is the fact that I’m reading it at the worst possible time. The news is doom spiraling, and this book and series is an endless repetition of war, battles, death, and suffering on repeat. It’s a LOT. So heavy, constantly. Did it need to be 4 books? I don’t think so.

I might give the Heir duology (?) a go in the future, but not anytime soon.

Mostly, I’m just glad it’s over. 😮‍💨
