Winter Oranges by Marie Sexton

I thought I'd read this before and hadn't logged it, but quickly realized I was mistaking it for a novella I read a couple of years ago. The premise is interesting but the magic involved is not explained, so you just have to suspend disbelief and roll with it.
I liked the main characters and enjoyed much of the story, but I was a little bored at times and found the book easy to put down. All in all I think this a book that would have been stronger as a novella.
