Ugly Girls by Lindsay Hunter

2.0

This pulpy novel tries hard at grit, is at times successful, but mostly tiresome. There are better gritty, southern-gothic reads out there, like The Devil All The Time and Salvage the Bones. Ugly Girls is a glossy, made-for-tv, PG kind of ugly, that reveals moments of authenticity in an otherwise after school special presentation.
