Bad Blood by L.C. Davis, Joel Abernathy

1.0

I don't even know where to start... This was recommended to me as a super sexy, fiery romantic, and exciting read. It is not. And because I wasted time of my life on it, hoping I'd turn a page and it would suddenly make sense and be good, I will now waste your time with my rant about it :)

First, this is not a romance.
SpoilerAll characters HATE each other. There are no romantic interactions whatsoever. The harem's only interest in the MC is that he is a vessel for their female blood goddess. At every point, we're reminded of this and how they would gladly get their goddess back into another vessel and end the MC. Do some of them find each other attractive? Yes. Do some of them do the deed? Also yes. Is it a pleasant read? Absolutely not. Why would I enjoy reading about characters who real-hate each other (not the fun enemies-to-lovers stuff) having sexy times? Love interests? ZERO. They HATE each other. Go read the other single 1 star review here for more info on how their dynamic works.

Second, the harem-four murders the main character and after the MC revives he plans to murder them back. Yet we're expected to believe that MC will just get over it at some point in the series (because it sure as hell not resolved in this book!) and that they all will live HEA together? After all the abuse and hate? Unless there's no HEA, in which case, see my first point.

Third, triggering content everywhere. Not only is MC murdered on page by the harem, but he is held against his will multiple times, violently held a couple of times, and the sex is rough enough to the point where there's talk by one of the harem of tearing MC's....receiver. And not in a sexy way. I cannot stress how much of a turn off every interaction was.

Fourth, there's one or two consecutive chapters of explicitness where harem member who are "straight" do the deed with MC and we're kept aware how strange it is for them, but they do it because they'll just have to get used to this new vessel of their goddess. That is messed up.

Fifth, it ends with a cliffhanger. I will not be buying the next one.
