“I know we were supposed to accept the impermanence of this thing with you and me, and enjoy it in the meantime, but I just keep digging in, and now I'm drowning in you, Sage.”

The book started off very well and I was loving Sage & Fisher together. The first library scene was well done and up until that point, I could feel the chemistry between them but then there was so much mentioned about both of their backgrounds and because of that, the focus kind of shifted from the romance. Like, I loved Sage & Fisher together but I couldn't really get the connection between them because the romance was a bit underdeveloped tbh. And because of it, I couldn't really get how they fell in love so fast. And at first, I thought that we'll have some fun scenes with the niece Indy especially since she and Sage shared the same kind of trauma but most of the time, she was either away or acting like a brat. But keeping all this aside, I liked some scenes, especially the ones where Sage & Fisher were with her animals and when he cooked for her and listened to her ramblings and saved her from the awkward run one with her ex. And some side characters like Silas, Micah, Ellis, Sam and Wren were good too. Still, I felt like this book fell flat because I was expecting a lot more from the story.
