This: “Women get consumed. Not surprising, considering the sheer amount of traffic a woman's body experiences. Tampons and speculums. Cocks, fingers, vibrators and more, between the legs, from behind, in the mouth.”
This: “People got such a charge from seeing their names in print. Proof of existence. I could picture a squabble of ghosts ripping through piles of newspapers. Pointing at a name on the page. See, there I am. I told you I lived. I told you I was.”
I’m not sure what I was expecting with this book, but I really devoured it when I was able to do so. I think I may have enjoyed reading this more than I did Gone Girl, but I’m the worst and watched the Gone Girl movie years ago so I knew what happened. But regardless, this is the kind of book I’ve been craving. A chilling debut novel from Gillian Flynn to my understanding.
Not the biggest fan of how it ended- I’m left with many questions- but it was still a good build up. I was fascinated by the way this story molds its monsters with each turning page.
