A Winter in New York by Josie Silver

This book was really tricky to rate, and there were parts I really enjoyed and parts that felt like watching a slow motion car crash. The author did a wonderful job writing a strong extended family for one character and sweet found family for the other, which was a major strength of the book.

The trouble I had with the book was the main character's struggle to own up to her mistakes, even if her reasons felt justified in her mind, and the ending felt very rushed and became a "and it all just worked out" ending. MMC was a big strength in this book, and ultimately the main character's choices and justification for her choices came across as reasonable, but it was tough to read at times and not want to yell at her.
