rhujins 's review for:
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo
by Taylor Jenkins Reid
enjoyed the premise of this book! i think evelyn and celia were really well fleshed out as characters within the book, but cant say much for monique. the connection depicted between evelyn and monique felt kind of lackluster at first, but got better thankfully.
honestly my biggest gripe with this book would be that i dont understand why it was necessary for monique to be a biracial character, within the book black representation felt shallow - referencing to monqiue and frankie's relationship as well. didn't help that a the author was a white woman who wrote this story - felt like she tried to be insightful with race but didnt do a good job at it (at least she tried ig)
