I've heard so many people rave about this book that I just had to pick it up. It's an interesting story, one about how we deal with the after-effects of trauma, specifically in this case sexual abuse. The author highlights how our bodies can find solace and security in one person's touch but not from others'.

I definitely connected to Amber's experiences, how easily it is to shut down at a memory of the trauma. But outside of that part of the storyline, I struggled to stay engaged. Not sure if I was disconnect from the high school portion, or the fact that I couldn't get over the lack of parental presence she and her brother had in their lives, or what, but the book ended as just 'meh' for me.
