Miss ma’am, what did you put in this book? This was beautiful. Amazing. Everything I could have ever needed and wanted. The build up of Tru and Elang relationship. The tiny scenes had me kicking my feet waiting for me to happen, but it was a SLOW BURN. The fantasy. Chiefs kiss. I loved that this was the main focus of the novel, that even when we got some hints of the romance, it never overshadowed the main fantasy elements. It was a beautiful blend, that left me in suspense. I’m also a sucker for a beauty and the beast retelling.
I can also totally see a future novels with Tru’s sisters as it felt like some things were being hinted at / set up for future companion novels.
My minor issues with the novel was that the beginning of the novel was a little slow. I almost DNF’d after the first chapter because it was slow and long but decided to push through. I’m not a huge fan of long chapters, which also made some things feel slow despite the story being really engaging.
With the reference’s to the dragon world, and all the lore the Krill/humans knew, I was surprised at how little we got to see the realm. It never really got explored (which was for reasons) but then with how things ended, it was sad we didn’t get to experience more of the world.
