The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

funny lighthearted fast-paced

5.0

This play is ridiculous. I love it so much!
No other author makes me laugh as much as Oscar Wilde and this is his best humorous work. This was a reread for me and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time, if not more.
The play centers around a man who goes by the name Ernest when in fact he is named Jack. He is attempting to marry his sweetheart, but her mother stands in the way and his friend is also attempting to marry his ward by pretending to be someone else. Hilarity ensues.
There are so many good lines! Every character is silly and the situation and resolution extremelly funny. I love Cecily especially. The way characters and situations mirror each other is stupendous.
