The Book of Elsewhere by China Miéville, Keanu Reeves
3.0

China Miéville writes a novel based on Keanu Reeves' outline, much of the premise taken from the [b:BRZRKR|55169755|BRZRKR, Volume 1|Keanu Reeves|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1611497746l/55169755._SY75_.jpg|86010273] graphic novel by Reeves and Matt Kindt, but changed and expanded considerably. Miéville is one of my favorite authors, but this book reads more like a movie novelization than a true novel. Scenes jump around and characters are sometimes hard to differentiate. There are some very weird and exciting ideas lurking in the book, but it's really kind of a slog to get to them. The second half is better, but I suspect a lot of readers won't get that far. The ending, like the graphic novel version, is quite open ended. I suspect Reeves wants to make this into a long series, alternating between comics, novels, and film. There's a lot of potential here, and I wish him luck.
