4 stars for the plot (it lost one for plot holes too big for even YA fiction*) and 3 stars for the writing, which was clunky and lacked nuance most of the time. I enjoyed it for the most part, though it won't make my re-read list.

And I felt the sex was completely unnecessary in a YA book - Nick could just as easily have been distracted without Beth falling into bed with him.
