dropsofjamie 's review for:
The Godfather
by Mario Puzo
I understand this book is considered a classic for showing another side of the United States during the 60s. As an Italian-American, I feel as if I should like this book, but I /strongly/ disliked it. I can say this because I have family who fought their way up once they got to the US; this book should have done a better job of highlighting those aspects instead of the boring, boring way it was written.
A book that is written by men, for men, with nothing else in mind. I understand this takes place at a time when women were regarded as much less than men, but the author here uses the most bland language to get across something that's already tough to read.
A classic at what cost? Nah. 2 stars.
