I’ve been on a streak of great police procedurals and this one joins that great bunch. I love those 80s horror movies which lends to me loving the idea of a group of final girls. This one not only has a group of final girls, but Morgan, has history with the victim. She previously saved her.
I love Morgan. Shes gutsy and fierce. She works so well with her team. I like all the main and secondary characters of the series. They are a well oiled machine and everyone works well with and protects each other.
My small chuckle in this one. It helped breakup the intense hunt. They thought they were looking for a Picasso. And every time I saw that my mind kept going wait, what? Why are they looking for a painting? It’s also apparently a European car.
But back to the story. It is a high stakes investigation since all the final girls are potential targets. The connection for Morgan adds an extra layer of incentive for her. The idea of attacking girls that have already survived attacks is dark and gripping. There wasn’t a shortage of suspects yet the story kept a fast pace and I didn’t want to put it down. The complex plot kept me wanting more.
This is one of my series that I can’t wait for the next book. The day after I finish the current one. This could be read as a stand alone, but once you read one, you are going to want to read them all.
