Enigma Tales by Una McCormack
4.0

McCormack deftly and imaginatively expands upon the Cardassia we get in DS9, diving deep into their cultural conflicts and academic pursuits. The novel ends a bit disappointingly, and the plot does not move mountains. But the view of daily life on Cardassia Prime is priceless, as is McCormack's characterization of Garak and her almost-frank approach to his sexuality and his romantic love for Julian Bashir.
