“The most important thing you can do on this Earth is breathe.”
I AM NOT OKAY AFTER READING THIS BUT IT WAS PHENOMENAL!!
The story follows Finn, a surfer bro who’s moved to an LA beach after hearing rumours of some of the biggest waves he’s never even imagined: Leviathans. Young, bright and fearless Finn is determined to ride Leviathans, despite warnings from locals. When he meets Riddick, a mysterious and grouchy surfer, he’s only warned about the dangers of Leviathans again. But Finn’s dimples are his superpower, and he convinces Riddick to train him to be able to best the treacherous waves when the season arrives.
This book is extremely well written. The foreshadowing is incredible, the characters are wonderful, the emotions are so raw, and it’s atmospheric. It goes sooooo much deeper than “a grumpy sunshine surfer romance”. Though I did predict what was going to happen at around 40%, I was still blasting through the book to see if I was right. It’s honestly so well done. I don’t have a single complaint about this book.
Pacing was excellent. The characters were beautiful. The dialogue and writing was gorgeous. It made me so emotional, which doesn’t usually happen for me. The themes were solid. Honestly I’m so impressed with this book. It absolutely deserves the hype that it’s getting.
Possible spoiler (but also a warning):
This book deals with major themes of death and loss.
