Metal Slinger
by Rachel Schneider
I am hurt.
I am not okay.
I feel so betrayed.
I mean, what?!?!?! TF?!?!?! Did I just READ?? 😭
Firstly, Schneider's writing is lovely, I enjoyed every moment of the story telling, I loved the barge/sea colony setting in the first few chapters. This book has a section where the main characters are traveling and I really love that in a fantasy. The magic system was really cool, very different types of powers in this one which is always refreshing and some light political intrigue that is always a plus.
Now that we've got that covered, let me go back to freaking out...!!!!
I... How... Why?!?!?
Now, I can't say much because, honestly, anything I say at all will be an instant spoiler, but what I will say is that I have not felt an emotion this heavy since the end of The Serpent and the Wings of Night.
I feel duped, I feel lied to and betrayed, like the fool I so obviously am seeing as I did not see the end of this book coming AT ALL. Suffice it to say, no matter how much I am contemplating existence at this point, it was absolutely brilliant and I am left in utter awe.
I'll never forgive some characters and I'll never trust this author again BUT that just makes me need the second book ASAP! Absolutely phenomenal, I had an amazing time with this book and I know for a fact that I'll never recover from it.
If you're planning in reading this... Goodluck.
