The New Wife by JP Delaney
3.0
mysterious tense

I have loved every JP Delaney book I have read so far, this one whilst still a good read its wasn't the usual compelling thriller I have come to expect from this author, it was more of a slow burn type of read and I just don't usually rate slow burn thrillers as highly as I want a thriller to grab me from at least the first 2 chapters and hold me captive and almost holding my breath until the ending. I know I have high expectations but as life is short I need my thrillers to be compelling and to haunt me when I am not reading them.  Siblings Finn and Jess learn their father has died and it’s not a cause of sorrow. The pair will inherit the Mallorcan finca their father has lived in with his third wife Ruensa and her daughter Roze. Finn agrees to travel to the Balearic Islands, partly out of curiosity to meet wife number three, but principally to stake their claim to the finca. What follows on this beautiful island takes a distinct path to uncertainty. I loved the short chapters and the twist was one I didnt predict, it was still a good read, more a slow unravelling of people with a mysterious past than what I would deem as a thriller.  What was clever was that my suspicions kept bouncing around between the characters and I had no idea who to believe. #jpdelaney #thenewwife #tea_sipping_bookworm #goodreads #thestorygraph #getlitsy #bookqueen #bookstagram
