Riding Lessons by Sara Gruen

Yeoch.

I read Water for Elephants, and while I didn't find it the life-changing book that others had seemed to - I didn't hate it. It was different and entertaining, so I figured a book in that vein about horses couldn't go wrong.

Wow, how wrong I was.

There is not one redeeming quality about the main character - Annemarie. Not one. Everyone else in the book deserved better and I could not bring myself to give a hoot whether she got her happily ever after or not - which of course she did - despite being horrific to everyone she came across.

I have recently decided that I am not going to read books I don't like just for the sake of finishing what I have started. I took the rest of Sara Gruen's books off of my to-read shelf and I don't feel bad about it.
