Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne

3.0

I was actually really looking forward to the book, but now I'm a bit disappointed. Yes, first I saw the movie as a child - and really often. I really liked the movie and thought I had to read the book (or listen to the audiobook in that case), but I ended up liking the movie better.
The beginning was really slow and the main plot starts at 30%. Then at 70% I really liked the book, but it was a bit late. The characters weren't really engaging. First the professor annoyed me and Axel was okay, then I liked the professor more and Axel annoyed me. It kept changing all the time.
I think the story was good when the book was published, but now it's not really special.

The narrator ended up being really good. He was a little too "loud" and euphoric at the beginning. He was really screaming in my ears. Fortunately, he improved and he was then the one who kept the story alive with his narration. Good job!
