Charlie Donlea’s The Girl Who Was Taken was a thrilling read with a good amount of twists and turns throughout. I really liked the set-up for this story, but I feel like there were a lot of characters to keep track of. I liked the non-linear plot, and the complexities of the story based on the way time flowed. I liked the main characters role, but did find some of the connections to be a bit forced. I liked the character and thought that it was fairly well written overall. This is certainly an adult thriller, and I can definitely say I didn’t see the twist at the end coming. I had my suspicions, but there was some pretty obvious misdirection that made me hesitant to commit to one suspect over another. I do feel like the twist reveal fell a bit short, but I still think that if you’re a fan of thrillers, this one will be enjoyable.
