I thought everything I’d seen online that the books didn’t live up to the show and vice Verda but I was so wrong…
The reason I put “it’s complicated” for diversity is because obviously all the characters are straight and white so it does lack diversity but then again this is England in 1813 and it wouldn’t be anything else. Shonda Rhimes skilfully created a colourblind and sexuality blind society however brilliant though her show is —- it is not the books.
I think that if you are looking for a light summer romance this is AMAZING but if you’re looking for something to reflect what you saw on Netflix then you’ll be disappointed.
I did finish it in 2 days if that helps anyone….
