The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
3.0
decided to start rereading books that i was first introduced to as a student just to see what chord they would strike as an adult.
throughout the first 1/3 of the book i was a bit distracted and partially annoyed by how on-the-nose it is thematically, but by the end i’d realized how fitting such a writing style is for a novel that intends to highlight the simple mysticism of existence and desire.
it's an easy read whose profundity is entirely dependent on the mindset of the individual who is reading it. much like the arcane Book of Life, i suppose.
definitely a good book for working your way out of a reading slump!
