I now know why people rave about The Sandman. Neil Gaiman has written a richly developed story following Dream of the Endless that is beautifully illustrated by a very talented team. The first volume begins with Dream being trapped for almost a century. The people around him age and die and the world has people who never wake up from their dreams. Dream’s sand, helm and Ruby have been stolen and he must retrieve them in order to restore his realm that has crumbled while he has been away which takes him to the depths of Hell in more ways than one.
