A very interesting character study, very emotional and raw.
In a way this book taught me to acknowledge and accept certain attitudes and decisions that I would naturally disagree with and feel like arguing about.
Even though this book is very heavily laced with religious, especiall Christian, teachings it shows very beautifully that that's only one way to escape darkness within yourself. For some people salvation happens through a god, for some through therapy and for some, like the main character, healing happens on a different path entirely.

It's also an interesting dissection of Korean society, especially the seemingly unbridgeable gap between the rich and the poor and therefor  made me think of Parasite somehow. The K-drama juvenile justice plays on similar themes in terms of juvenile delinquency and how being raised lovelessy in a violent and hopeless environment can shape kids to become criminals stuck in a vicious cycle they can't escape unless shown some love, care and compassion.
