I was excited to get to return to this series, but it felt almost like reading an entirely different series. We're introduced to a new enemy and a new ally, both with entirely new magic and hailing from two brand new countries. While I still enjoyed this book it felt like a very strange way to end the series by introducing so many new elements to the story before wrapping it all up.
I wasn't completely satisfied with how it ended, and that Roenn and the mercenaries were completely absent from this book despite book 2 making him an important character. He gets like one mention, and that's it.
It basically just felt very rushed and forced, and was definitely a disappointing end to what had started as a very promising trilogy. If you're unsure about whether to read this book or not, I'd say don't bother. Just let your imagination wrap up the series, it'll probably do a better job.
I did like that one of the original characters is now bisexual though!
