The Maid by Nita Prose

3.0

I was loving this book at the start and I was convinced it would turn into a 5 star read. However, the mystery element didn’t work for me and actually, I realised that not a lot happens in this book. There’s a lot of padding. What I enjoyed at the start, Molly and the way she thought and interpreted the world, became irritating.
Don’t get me started on the ridiculous court room scenes. Just awful and unbelievable. The second half if the book is indulgent and much of it unnecessary.
The last few chapters dragged and were infuriatingly, unrealistically gushing. It turns out everybody learned to appreciate Molly and to tell her so. Also, Molly knew who did it and kept quiet, letting someone else be convicted of murder. But everyone loves Molly now and she’s a hero. I don’t mind things ending neatly, I could do without the pretty pink bow.
