Fables, Vol. 7: Arabian Nights by Bill Willingham

2.0

I've been working my way through this series slowly and have mostly been entertained. I love the concept of fairy tale characters from different stories interacting with each other. But. This was probably the worst volume for me so far. I've seen a few reviews on GR point this out (but not many): the portrayal of the fables from the Arabian homeland. It was stereotypical and honestly just downright offensive in its jokes about the language barrier. I feel like there was an opportunity here for this to be a much more interesting and deeper arc. Because problems aside, it was also quite boring. I may continue it since I enjoy some elements, but my expectations will be pretty low going forward.
