You know when you’re reading a book and you think how this is exactly what you needed to read? Well that is how I felt reading The Dead Romantics.
I adored this book so so much. The story, the writing, the characters, all of it was stellar.
I was initially apprehensive about a romance book with ghosts, but oh boy, this blew me away with its heartwarming, beautiful words. I found Florence and her struggles really relatable. Have I had an ex be that much of an arsehole to me? Thankfully, no. But her worries with regards to personal failure, her place in the world, going back to your small home time and thinking romance is dead? For sure.
The romance was so sweet. Even though it developed over a short period of time, it crept up on you in the best of ways. Ben and his plot twists were excellent, I enjoyed him and the plot a lot! Excellent odd family in small town vibes also.
I'm really excited to read Ashley Poston's next book The Sever Year Slip now!
