I don't know if it's just the translation that's bad or the original text. There's just way too many long sequences focused on background characters I don't give a shit about and less scenes with characters that I do want to read more of. Also, I love this series' female characters -- they are complex and have motivations independent of Geralt -- but there's just so much gratuitous misogyny in the universe and from the author.
