When I got back into reading last year, I knew Fantasy books was a genre that interested me. Having read The Hobbit, I can't believe that this was not the first book I started with.

There is not much that I can say about The Hobbit, which has not already been said. The world of Middle Earth is whimsical and magical, and Bilbo's journey to the lonely mountain and back, is a captivating story in this world.

My one and only criticism with this book is the character building. Outside of Bilbo and maybe Thorin, many of the dwarves seem to not have much character of individualism. Outside of being either Fat, Old or Young. This didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the book, but I believe it would be a nice way to enhance it.

This book is now my first recommendation for anyone wanting to get into fantasy books. As its short, sweet and simply story is a great introduction to fantasy written by the founder of the genre.
