Unbirthday by Liz Braswell
1.0
Even when this book isn’t bad, it’s not even that good. There were a couple of entertaining parts, but definitely not worth reading in the many Alice in Wonderland retellings/sequels
Because I like Liz Braswell’s writing, I will say that I’ve read a couple of her other books in the Twisted Tale series, and she does a really good job of capturing the culture of her characters- whether it be the politics of Agrabah or the French background of Beauty and the Beast. Unbirthday is no different- she does a great job at distinguishing two distinct cultures: the absurd Wonderlandians and the courtships of the English.
Overall: 1.5 ⭐️
