The last in the Jude Fontaine series.

I had the audiobook read by Emily Sutton-Smith. She reads the series, the narration is excellent. I love the continuity of the same narrator.

There is an underlying story arc that covers the three books, although each does have its own main story so as a reader you get closure at the end of each book, so it’s best to start at the beginning. Anyone who knows me will be chuckling as I’m terrible for dipping into a series as and when I can acquire a book.

I can’t rave about this series enough! Honestly this author deserves much more attention on social media book sites. If you like dark US psychological thrillers based around crime give these books a try. The subject matter is dark, and there might be triggers for some, the triggers change between the books. I saw the style of this book cleverly described as an ‘Empathetic’ thriller by an insightful blogger. It sums it up perfectly. The emphasis is on the victims and how their lives are impacted by the experience they have gone through as much as the crime itself.

The authors characterisation is just superb, all of the characters are well developed, the three main characters Jude, Uriah and Elliott are just great, I love them and their relationships. They all have problems, and are  the best damaged main characters that I’ve read especially Jude.

The plot has plenty going on throughout, there’s no lag, it’s got twists turns and reveals. The pace is good throughout.

Two out of the three books are in my books of the year, this one, and the first (The Body Reader). The middle body is still a great book 4.25- 4.5⭐️ I can’t recommend this book and series highly enough.
