I really enjoyed Unsteady by Peyton Corrine, the first book in this series, so I was excited to receive an early copy of Unloved. I assumed I was in for a good read but it surpassed my expectations. The relationship between Matt/Freddy and Ro was just so incredibly sweet. They have both been hurt and had their confidence decimated by narcissists in their life. They are two broken people who feel lonely and unlovable and they come into each other's lives at the perfect time.
Freddy struggles with several learning disorders and needs to maintain his grades to stay on the hockey team. He is known as a campus playboy but he just wants someone to want the real him. Ro is an incredibly smart and compassionate tutor with crippling self doubt who is assigned to tutor Freddy. They form a friendship and eventually relationship that is so much healthier than either has experienced before. They are such a safe space for each other and I absolutely loved watching their relationship evolve.
I have zero complaints. The friendship, the romance, the spice, I loved it all. I highly recommend reading this one when it comes out in February.
Possible Triggers: emotional/mental abuse from non-MCs, grief, loss of a parent- off page
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
