The Heart of a Cowboy by Jody Hedlund

5.0

I sat down to read the newest Jody Hedlund book, The Heart of a Cowboy, telling myself that I would only read a couple chapters. A couple hours later, I finished the book ... waaaaay past my bedtime. It's soo good! I could not put it down!

This is book two in her series, Colorado Cowboys. You could read this one before the first one, A Cowboy for Keeps, but there are a family details that add depth to the story. I would recommend reading them in order (but you don't have to).

The main characters are Leanea, who is a botanist trying to prove her worth, and Flynn, who is trying to keep his family and his steer delivery all together. They're drawn together due to circumstances, but they are drawn together as they get closer through talks, walks, and rescues.

I love all the details Hedlund masterfully weaves into this novel - the botany of the Santa Fe trail, a little mystery, faith, romance, overcoming odds, and family relationships. And that only names a few of the many layers. Enjoy this one, readers! I am already looking forward to the next installment called To Tame a Cowboy.

Reviewed from a gift copy. Thank you, Jody!!
