When I started this series as a grasping LGBT+ teen I had no idea I would one day be 22 years old, weeping and smiling and shouting in turn to the ELEVENTH book of the series as it profoundly changed me. Has some moments of transparency and repetitiveness but makes up for it in what it says about the human spirit. Also, they're not all cardboard cut out white cishet bois, and it's got necromancy, sorcery, sex, and lovecraftian horror that I can still read before bed without provoking nightmares. It's got it all - even the sentient evil mushrooms.
